01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

Spicy miso ramen is a good choice when you want both heat and the flavour of miso. One diner found the spice moderate enough not to overpower the other flavours, and said it had faded by the end of the meal. The menu also includes umakara miso ramen, with a savoury kick, and miso tsukemen, where noodles are served with dipping broth. Even within the miso range, you can choose a different style and level of heat.

For a generous helping of vegetables, consider miso vegetable ramen or gomoku vegetable ramen. One diner described the miso vegetable ramen as containing Chinese cabbage, onion, carrot and bean sprouts, among other vegetables. They noted the vegetables’ crisp texture, the savoury depth of shiitake mushrooms and a gently sweet miso broth. It’s a choice between making spice the focus or opting for a generously topped bowl.

If you’d like rice or a side dish with your ramen, the fried rice and fried chicken sets, as well as gyoza, are worth considering. One diner said they enjoyed a meal combining ramen, fried chicken and rice; another order of fried chicken was served with a sweet-and-savoury sauce, according to a separate account. For something other than ramen, try Barri, the restaurant’s house-special fried noodles, or jajan men, noodles served with meat miso.

Horin opens for lunch and dinner, with options such as a daily lunch special and a fried rice set at lunchtime. Reservations are not accepted, and payment is cash only.
